Ghost 2003 and nvidia nforce4 RAID?
Nov 29th, 2006 at 7:49am

Hi,
I'm an old school ghost user.

I have a new ECS motherboard (<$100) that includes a SATA RAID controller -- nvidia nforce 4.  There are 4 SATA ports on the mobo, and RAID can can be individually Enabled/Disabled for each SATA port.

If I don't enable RAID on a SATA drive, Ghost 2003 can see that drive and can write an image to it.  If I enable RAID (for example, on two SATA drives, and configure them as a RAID1 mirrored pair), Ghost can not "see" the mirrored pair and thus cannot write an image to it.

Anybody seen this issue before?

*Officially* Symantec says Ghost 2003 does not support RAID controllers--but, often it does--especially *mirror* arrays--if the controller is DOS compatible!

There can be issues with Ghost 2003 and certain SATA controllers.  Check this thread out:
