Ghost 2003
Dec 11th, 2006 at 7:30pm

Error:
Internal Error 10040 - an internal inconsistency has been detected.

What lead up to the error:
Details:
Restoring from Image file on DVD
Booting from bootable DVD that contains .gho file and first .ghs file.

What lead up to the error:
Ghost runs for a while and then asks for next file in span.  Point to .ghs on current DVD - Ghost continues to run - gets to 77% and then error appears.

Things I have tried:
I have run integrity check on these files - successfully
-fni
-crcignore
-noide
Also went into the bios and change the SATA settings to compatability mode.

Additional details:
IBM T60 dual core
100GB HDD SATA  NTFS- format
CD/DVD internal (ghost finds drive)
USB external HDD (ghost finds drive)

Side note:
I have another ghost image backup on the external USB drive.
If I boot using the DVD and point to that .gho file - ghost runs and then gets  Application error 10008 - unexpected end of file
I have run integrity check on these files - successfully

I suspect that the issue has to due with the fact that I am restoring images to an SATA drive.  Because both ghost images (that are different) and on different media have errors in the process indicator.

I retract the earlier statement:
I have run integrity check on these files - successfully

Both ghost image backups show errors during the integrity check.

You need to clarify:

Quote:

successfully

Quote:
Both ghost image backups show errors during the integrity check.

A *successful* Integrity check means you run it and there are *no* errors, but you then say both image sets *show errors during the integrity check*!--can't have it both ways!

Couple thoughts--probably will not solve the problem but need to *rule out* the variables--

1.  Are you loading *himem.sys*--some systems need that memory manager for successful Ghost procedures--and the errors occur in the middle of a Ghost procedure based on previous posts in the forums here.

2.  Is it possible to place all the image files in the same directory on a secondary HDD and do the Ghost procedure from there--eliminates the speed differential of different media--I know it says you can save Ghost images to all those different destinations, but....

3.  *IBM T60 dual core*--are there any known issues when running a DOS program with a *dual core* processor--are they able to scale to the older DOS environment--other DOS programs work okay?

No question is stupid ... but, possibly the answers are Wink !
