sata dvd not seen by ghost 2003

New Dell E520 with SATA NEC DVD+/-RW not seen when creating Ghost 2003. Have tried changing BIOS RAID setting to Auto but system stops working completely until returned to Raid setting. Strange, I thought that RAID was only applicable if 2x HDD used,; but this system came working set up as BIOS RAID working OK.
Any suggestions to get this SATA DVD recognised will be appreciated. I've been using Ghost 2003 on over 100 client computers but never had SATA DVD before. I have "Live Updated" Ghost.
thanks

I would try starting Ghost with the *-fni* switch first:

Thanks your suggestions, but no sadly no luck. See my result below
1. In some BIOS's, changing the setting from *normal* or *native* to *combination*-- as mentioned earlier changing RAID setting in BIOS didn't work
2. Starting Ghost with the following command line:
*ghost.exe -fni* -- failed with & without underscore for spaces
3. Or, staring Ghost with the following command line:
*ghost.exe -noide -- same as #2
4. Live Updating Ghost 2003 to the most current version done to no avail

I recently ran into this with a Dell 745 w/SATA DVD.
I had to go into BIOS and edit under "Drives", and change the "SATA Operation" to "Legecy", now I can boot from a DVD.
Hope this helped

And it worked? Support for Ghost 2003 was dropped quite a while ago (maybe 9 months?).
Open a DOS prompt wherever you have your Ghost.exe file at and run a "Ghost /ver" command and see what the build number is. Many of the issues of using Ghost 2003 & SATA seemed to be linked to people who had the older v.775 build. The final build was v.793, and seems to have cleared up several of those issues, although I've never seen a SATA DVD drive mentioned before.

Oakcdrom.sys didn't work for me. Gcdrom.sys did work, and I also had to change the SATA operation setting in the BIOS to RAID Autodetect/ATA.
