Network Credentials
Jan 23rd, 2007 at 6:32pm

1. I'm losing my mind
2. I searched for "Network Credentials" and found nothing ... please forgive me if this has been covered somewhere.

I am using a laptop running Windows XP.
I have a wireless network with a Linksys Network Storrage Device.

Link to Linksys product page
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayou...

I have a USB external Hard Drive connected to the Linksys device.
My wireless computer has the harddrive mapped.
Norton Ghost keeps warning me that I need to provide "Network Credentials"
I think that I occasionally get a backup to work but more often, I receive an error that the backup did not succeed.

I have no idea what this means ... can anyone shed light on this?

DisQuoi,

Try this for Ghost 10. Ghost 9 is similar. Click Options, Settings tab. Under "Default location ..." browse to your Mapped Drive. Enter Username and Password under Network Credentials.

Does it work now?

The version is Ghost 10.

I canot follow Brian's instructions because I don't know what "Network Credentials" are.  It's just a wireless home network.  I'm not accessing another computer ... just a USB drive connected to my router via the Linksys Network Storrage Device.

I have lots of passwords ... the router has a login name and password, the Linksys device does, too.  I don't thinbk these are 'Network Credentials" though.  Where do I find (how do I determine my) Network Credentials?

Ghost 10 needs Network Credentials to send an image across the network (to your external HD). These are simply your logon username and password. If you don't have a logon password you will need to create one. If you don't want to type it at the Welcome Screen every time the computer starts, then TweakUI allows auto logon.

Starting to make sense? I haven't used a Linksys Network Storage Device so I hope I'm on the right track.

, the Linksys device does, too.

In retrospect, it's probably this username and password.
