NSR Cannot Boot from Cloned SATA drive
Feb 4th, 2007 at 11:42am

NSR drive copy worked fine.  But when I switch to the new SATA drive (300GB), WinXP Home stops at splash screen.  I've installed Recovery Console and run fixmbr and any number of diagnostics and it all looks OK.  How can I get my Dell 4700 to boot up from the new drive?

gdstuart,

The first thing I'd try is Method #3. This is not the same as fixmbr.

Did you clone into a partition on the 300 GB HD?

Goodell's site was a gem.  I used Method #2 and then had to settle the HAL.DLL issue, but now it's running like a top and more importantly, I understand how XP handles the drive letters.

Thanks much!
