I received the following email today. Interested in your (expert) thoughts. See here:
Hello,
My name is Jon Bach. I am president of Puget Custom Computers, a system builder in Seattle.
We've been hunting for a long time for a great disk imaging utility. We used to use Ghost, and gave it up due to licensing difficulties. We've since moved to Acronis TI but are finding it problematic and inflexible.
I'm thinking about moving us back to Ghost. I really would like to find a platform independent utiltiy (IE, self booting), so Ghost 2003 or 8.2 seems the way to go. I wanted to see if I could get your thoughts.
What utility would you recommend for a system builder, building 300+ units a month, to create restore DVDs for their customers?
I'm about to just start trying every free Linux app under the sun hoping that one is reliable enough with NTFS partitions, but I have a feeling it would be a long frustrating road with little chance of success
Thanks for any help you can provide.
