I don't know if you know this, so I'll mention it in case you don't. Both the Ghost and PM products also qualify for $20 upgrade rebates. You can confirm this at symantecrebates.com; the offer #s are 05-35004 and 04-72400. Even though each offer says limit 1, Symantec honors up to 3 upgrade rebates for each of these products. (There is no UPC codes on the Ghost and PM boxes in the bundle, but the upgrade rebates require only the proof of purchase tab inside the box which they do have)

I bought this bundle as soon as it came out and have received or am approved for a $50 rebate and 3 $20 rebates on the purchase. It was my third upgrade rebate for each of the three, so now I'm maxed out.

I bit and ordered Ghost 12 from Buy.com. I received the retail box shipped to me within a couple days.

However...after promptly filling out my rebate form including UPC and everything else they wanted, I just got an email from Symantec with my rebate status: wrong or missing UPC.

Needless to say, I kept a copy of everything I sent, so I just sent off a reply to their Resubmission Department asking for my $40!

Caution: Keep copies of everything you send to Symantec.

I thought Symantec had stopped playing this hard-to-get rebate game.

I do a lot of Symantec rebates, and they are generally pretty good. On those occasions when something dorky like this happens, I just call Parago (the rebate processor) and tell them I sent the original UPC and had a copy, or whatever. They almost always approve it on the spot-I can't remember the last time I had to physically resubmit anything. Faster and saves a stamp.

Buy.com currently has Save & Restore 2 for $5.69 after $40 (Visa debit card) rebate thru 6/16/07 for anyone wanting to play with it or is running a Vista platform.

I just got another email "update" from Symantec that my rebate is now approved.

I doubt that they have yet received the documentation that I mailed to them yesterday. So I have no idea what caused them to discover their mistake so quickly.

A couple years ago it was really bad. But I agree that lately I (and others I know) haven't had problems.

Personally I'd rather get a check instead of their Debit card for the rebate. But either way, I spend the money! I don't let a check or debit card sit around.

I agree that debit cards are a pain, but less of a pain than paying full price

Buy.com has Ghost 12 on spevcial again for $19.19 after $45 debit card rebate. If the offer numver is different than the last one, you should be able to get another copy for the reduced price if you want one. The last time I checked, you can get an easy $5 rebate from pricegrabber.com for writing a review for either S&R2 or Ghost 12.

Frys.com has a new bundle deal which includes Ghost 12 along with Norton Internet Security 2007 3 user and Partition Magic 8 FREE AFTER REBATE, assuming you haven't already gotten 3 upgrade rebates for Internet Security. Shipping is charged but usually modest. Good 6/21 and 6/22 only, so act fast if you want the new Ghost free.
