New forum faster?

Does this new forum seem faster?

The folks at YaBB claim it is.

It *does* seems pretty zippy. But the server isn't very far from here .. right up the road in LA.

How is it for you East Coasters? Kiwis? Europeans?

It's fine. I'm not noticing any real difference from the old board, but when you consider we have about 150-200ms extra round-trip time due to sheer distance, that's as expected.

Thanks nbree.

from here it looks like ~20 ms:

...

sounds low doesn't it?

i was expecting more like 50-60. maybe that's with the old server .. which was cross-country in atlanta.

the color legend on the freeware i use gives green for 0-200ms.

Impressive!

Pinging radified.com [209.200.231.115] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 209.200.231.115: bytes=32 time=233ms TTL=50
Reply from 209.200.231.115: bytes=32 time=316ms TTL=50
Reply from 209.200.231.115: bytes=32 time=350ms TTL=50
Reply from 209.200.231.115: bytes=32 time=253ms TTL=50

Still, for NZ that's fairly typical of any US traffic, and it sure beats the ~800ms or so I used to get from satellite back when that was the only broadband option. Damn that speed of light!

btw, my old favorite traceroute freebie - NeoTrace Express - seems to have disappeared. All the download links I tried failed.

so I found a new trace freebie .. calledPingPlotter. Here's a link for anyone interested (took my 15 mins to find a free graphical traceroute prgm):

http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

Look where it says:

Download PingPlotter Freeware v1.20 (released March 28, 2007) via HTTP or FTP. 654 KB.

Maybe this direct link will work:

Been awhile since I've lurked about the forum, not bad Rad, not bad.

From where I'm at in NW Indiana it looks pretty darn good.  I did the ping o/a 13:50 EDT, which means just about everyone in the ole US of A should be rockin and a rollin webwise.

Forum seems zippy enough for me.

It seems fine during the day.  But could you test or try again tomorrow morning between 6:15 and 6:45 am (Pacific Time)?  And let me know if you get any long pauses.
