Cannot See Drive
Sep 30th, 2007 at 7:58pm

I'm trying to restore a backup I made before I installed Windows Vista with Ghost 10.  When I try to load the recovery environment from the CD, I cannot see the internal hard drive, only the external drive with the backups on it and the CD drive.  I tried reformatting the drive and reinstalling XP and Ghost 10 on it.  While in windows, ghost can see every drive, but not when I boot in the recovery environment.  I have successfully restored backups on this computer in the past using the exact same procedure I am currently, and cannot figure out what is wrong.

apw,

Strange. Shouldn't be, but sounds like a SATA driver issue. Try loading drivers from the F6 choice.

I would love to, but the system in question is a laptop and has no floppy drive, and I don't have access to a USB floppy drive.

I can't think of an alternative so I'd try this.

The following way is more difficult.

That second link poses a question. Have you made any BIOS changes since the last restore?

The second fix worked perfectly, thank you.
I actually did update the BIOS after the restore in an attempt to fix the constant Blue Screens from vista not being able to control the fans properly.

That's great. But what was the fix? A new BIOS or a new CD?

New CD with the correct SATA drivers.
