I have added some additional forum templates with *small, medium, and large font sizes*--test them out in the *User CP-Profile-Options-Which Template would you like to use?* and let me know what you think.

In general, I like either the blk_gry3d-large_font or ...medium_font.  As expected, I have no interest in the small templates.  Smiley

The black_large and black_medium templates seem to have different colors and are harder to read than the 3d choices.

On your widescreen LCD, what do you think?

Thanks for helping!

One template/forum color and font design that I find very easy to read is the TI one:

I'm using the *blk_gry3d-large_font*--I don't have to be so precise as to how close I sit to the monitor that way--I can lean back and still read things!

Unfortunately, I can only work with the basic ones that Rad has found for the YaBB system.  Probably the templates could be made to look like that, but it would take a lot of editing of the webpage design for all the different display pages--probably a lot of work!  (And beyond my skill set  Wink !)

Everything looks good now.  The choices that are there should work for most everyone.

Thanks!!

Do you guys have breadcrumbs at the *top* of your pages (in other styles) that contain the actual posts? (not board index pages)

Breadcrumbs are navigation like so:

Radified Community Forums › Radified Community Technical Discussion Boards (Hardware + Software-related) › Non-Ghost Related Technical Discussion Board

I have those at the bottom (or blk_gry3d), but not at the top.

When NOT logged in, breadcrumbs are only at the bottom.  Also, using blk-grey3d-medium-font after logging in, they are only at the bottom.

Odd that the YaBB forum itself (which prolly uses the default install) has than at the TOP (not bottom):

The templates *Forum Default* and *black* have the *breadcrumbs* at the top, and two buttons on a bar element at the bottom that say *Home* that takes you back to the main forum page and *Board* that takes you back to the thread index page.  So there is a *navigation* option at the bottom, but buttons and not the text version!

(It took me a long time to figure out why the term *breadcrumbs*--I'm getting slower!!!!  What's the famous store?--Hansel and Grettle?!--or do I have that wrong--too!)

***********************************************************************

When you click on a board and bring up the board index page, you have *breadcrumbs* at the top and bottom--and the *moderators* are listed just after those *crumbs*.

If I go to the browser menu *View* item, and select *Source*, here's the code that brings in the *crumbs*:

Top *crumbs*:

Code:
<!-- Navigation Bar start -->
<span class="small"><b><a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl" class="nav">Radified Community Forums</a> » <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?catselect=rad_02" class="nav">Radified Community Non-Technical Discussion Board</a> » <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=Extra_Rad_Forum" class="a"><b>General Discussion Board</b></a></b> (Moderators: <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=admin" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Rad</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Christer" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Christer</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=NightOwl" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">NightOwl</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Pleonasm" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Pleonasm</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=MrMagoo" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">MrMagoo</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=El_Pescador" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">El_Pescador</a>)</span>

<!-- Navigation Bar end -->

Bottom *crumbs*:

Code:
<!-- Navigation Bar start -->

<div class="navbarcontainer">
<table width="100%" border="0">
<tr>
<td align="left">
 <span class="small"><b><a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl" class="nav">Radified Community Forums</a> » <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?catselect=rad_02" class="nav">Radified Community Non-Technical Discussion Board</a> » <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=Extra_Rad_Forum" class="a"><b>General Discussion Board</b></a></b> (Moderators: <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=admin" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Rad</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Christer" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Christer</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=NightOwl" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">NightOwl</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Pleonasm" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Pleonasm</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=MrMagoo" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">MrMagoo</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=El_Pescador" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">El_Pescador</a>)</span>
</td>
<td align="right">
 <yabb forumjump>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

<!-- Navigation Bar end -->

It's pretty obvious where the code for the *crumbs* begins and ends--but where is the *template* that brings in that code for that webpage?  This is mentioned at the top of the page source information:

Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://radified.com/yabb22files/Templates/Forum/blk_gry3d-large_font.css" type="text/css" /><link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS Feed for this board" href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=RSSboard;board=Extra_Rad_Forum" />

When you click on a specific thread on the index page, and open that thread--now the top *crumbs* information is gone--and only the *moderators* info is seen:

Code:
<!-- Navigation Bar start -->

<div class="navbarcontainer">
<table width="100%" border="0">
<tr>
<td align="left">
<span class="small">
(Moderators: <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=admin" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Rad</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Christer" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Christer</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=NightOwl" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">NightOwl</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=Pleonasm" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Pleonasm</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=MrMagoo" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">MrMagoo</a>, <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=El_Pescador" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">El_Pescador</a>)
</span>
</td>
<td valign="bottom" align="right">
<span class="small">
&lsaquo; <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1175144143">Previous topic</a> | <a href="http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1201037955">Next topic</a> &rsaquo;
</span>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

<!-- Navigation Bar end -->

The *crumbs* information is now missing from the *Navigation Bar* code!

Rad, see here:  http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1201037955/15#17 .  You said you found where to edit the font so it was light grey and not black--this font occurs in the forum threads where the top *crumbs* are missing--does that same template file for the font also have the code for the *Navigation Bar*?

Wow.

You have one serious digging. I will have to go thru that info again, and try to digest it all.

I'm sure this would be a relatively simple thing for someone who knows the in-n-outs of the forum templating system.

Seems we have to copy code from one place (where we *have* breadcrumbs) and paste it into another (we we *want* them) .. without breaking anything in the process. =)

Okay, I switched over to the "black" template, which is a YaBB v2.2 template (blk_gry3d is a YaBB v2.1 template). Here, in threads, breadcrumbs are found at the top, but not the bottom, which is what I'd expect to be more normal (than at the bottom, but not the top).

I can also view search engine bots here:

Quote:
Search Engines: 28
Yahoo! Crawler (22), Googlebot (1), Microsoft Live Search (5)

Now I'm in "Forum default". Breadcrumbs are listed at TOP (here, this thread), not bottom. I can also see search engine bots listed. (Not available in blk_gry3d Y2.1 template).

7:30 PM Monday nite:

Quote:
Search Engines: 50
Yahoo! Crawler (34), Googlebot (1), Yandex (1), Microsoft Live Search (14)

These numbers are in addition to members & guests visiting. So, there's some unseen traffic here.

This morning:  66 Guests, and 49 Search Engines!

Does that mean 49 out of 66 Guests are Search Engines--or 49 plus 66 are on the forum?

Interesting feature!

Had the same question myself.

But sometimes there are MORE BOTS than guests, so guests must be separate/different from bots. Folks at YaBB forums confirmed.

Might explain resource usage a little better.
