Just an observation....over the years I have seen an uptick in *strangeness* and *weird* events (people create *events*) with the full moon cycle!!!! When you read the studies--science says *no relationship*, but....
And, I've always said that maybe it's just me--I'm the only one effected by the moon, and I'm the one creating the *weirdness* in my head, while everyone else is acting *normal*
! But, seems like I see a lot more *bad* driving habits just before a full moon--don't know if I'm just noticing more--or not!
Well, I'm sure you're not effected by the *moon*--but, your last upgrade to the forum was just before a *full moon*--and we temporarily lost half the forum!!!!
Tomorrow is another *full moon*--watch your backside
!!!!

Thanks. Hadn't noticed the lunar cycles. Very perceptive of you. I *do* get energetic with the full moons, so I'm not surprised that these upgrades coincide.
I feel good about the move. Taking it slow. Reading everything carefully. No hurry, since the Lunarpages server is going nowhere. WT sppt is holding my hand, answering my emails (questions) within minutes. Impressive support. He even has a sense of humor. I'm creating another site back-up now.
But maybe I should go get some coffee first.

Uh, here we are. Move complete. Think I fixed all the problems. (A few of the subdomains weren't working.)
But all the databases, email accounts, and most of the subdomains transferred over from the old site .. no problem. I thought I would have to reconfigure everything by hand at the new site .. but no, it all worke fine. Pretty cool.
Any problems?

Congrats on the upgrade!
Lost at least one new member from this morning--BLong I think.
Lost his thread and several response posts + lost a post from Brian in response to one of my posts.
But, website response seems to be very good compared to Lunarpages.
Speaking of which--need to remove them from your *fader* announcements in top left corner, and correct the *downtown LA* location--and the Lunarpages at the bottom of the forum pages!
Looks like not everyone is being directed to the new server yet--suspect some are still chatting away at the old site!!! They'll probably show up by tomorrow!

Okay, I changed the news fader.
Tired. I get the bug early tomorrow morn, so I wanted to get this done by tonight. I'll take care of the rest after I'm done having the bug.
While reviewing things today, I noticed your nightowl email acct contains ~ 1 MB in it. Do you not use it?
If you are getting too much spam, we can change it to NightOwl2, or something like that. That's what I do when I start getting lots of spam at a particular addy.
1 MB is not a problem (we have 30 gigs), just asking.

Just received this at midnight (from Lunarpages):
Quote:
After reviewing your account, it seems that your account usage is reduced but still not acceptable so we are not able to move your account back to the production server. We have to monitor your account for another 24 hours. Your account is still using high memory resources. If your account resources usage is acceptable then we will move your account back to our production server. Here is your resource usage for today:
radified.com
CPU usage: 3.56
Memory usage: 1.34
MySQL usage: 0.0
Top Process %CPU 150 /usr/bin/perl -- YaBB.pl
Top Process %CPU 90.0 /usr/bin/perl -- YaBB.pl
Top Process %CPU 81.0 /usr/bin/perl -- YaBB.pl
Please, upgrade all your addon(s) and audit all your scripts. If you require a higher usage then allowed on shared servers you might want to try a dedicated plan.
Details on dedicated plans can be found here:
http://www.lpdedicated.com/
I hope this information is helpful. We are committed to making your hosting experiences pleasant and fulfilling.
It will be funny if they continue to send me emails claiming the site is using excessive resources .. when no one is using the site at their server any longer.

Indeed - any idea on the load numbers on the new host?

Should be easy to get. From the command line:
'top' will show you processor utilization and the most active processes
'ps aux' will show you a list of all the processes and their memory and processor usage at that instant
'uptime' will show you the load averages
'free -m' will show you the amount of used/available memory
Some of them may look funny due to it being a virtual server, but you'll get a good idea of the server health.

At new host. I can get these myself .. via WHM (WebHost Manager):
Quote:
radified.com 0.67 (%CPU) 13.41 (% Memory) 0.0 (MySQL)
Note: These figures are averages since 0000 hours today.
Note: This script will not able to track cgi cpu/memory usage if you do not have suexec installed.
Note: Percentages are based on one cpu. If you have 2 cpus divide the number in half to get the percentage of all cpu power used
The server is dual-CPU, far as I can tell. "Intel Dual Xeon Clovertown (8 CPUS)" I have been assigned (they tell me) 384-MB RAM.

Quote:
Top Process %CPU 32.0 (YaBB.pl)
Top Process %CPU 15.0 (YaBB.pl)
Top Process %CPU 10.0 (YaBB.pl)
What do you think?

Rad,
Site access from Ohio is *MUCH* faster than before! Just wanted to thank you for the quicker access!
Looks like you got things under control...

From Southern California, it is as fast as before, and more importantly, it is *consistently* fast. I haven't seen any pauses, as I used to with LP.

Site access from Bayou Country is *NOTICEABLY* faster than before - albeit not *RADICALLY* faster.
