Ideas for 3 new boards
Feb 25th, 2008 at 12:18am

I have idea for 3 new boards:

1. Forum/web site related stuff (which I've been focused on lately). This would include this post.
2. NightOwl's Bootable CD/DVD. This topic gets many questions/threads/posts. Seems like I'm always forwarding emails to him.
3. Non-Ghost Cloning programs (such as Pleo's new darling, ShadowProtect)

http://www.storagecraft.com/products/ShadowProtectDesktop/

Now that we have server horsepower, I'm not afraid to open up the forums and use it. The first board would go at the bottom, below General Discussion.

#'s 2 & 3 would go between Ghost 2003 and Non-Ghost Related Technical discussion (which would refocus on "Hardware & Non-Cloning Software").

What do you think?

I could work with that!

Along with Pleonasm's ShadowProtect, Brian is using *Image for Windows* by TeraByte Unlimited!

I received a message inquiring about a Linux forum and Ghost issues:

Quote:
NightOwl,

Do we need a Ghost 2003 - Linux forum?

I have recently been working thru some problems with the different distros of Linux.  Mandriva 2008 for example can be backed up using a disk copy.  I just finished restoring my backup and even the boot to Windows (Windows Vista 32 in this case) worked.

Those guys did a heck of a good job back in 2003.

Would be an area for MrMagoo's expertise!

I think we had a thread like this a year ago, or so when you were planning an update to a new forum version--and we wondered if it will get too complicated to have multiple boards with narrow topics--but,... it does organize the threads--if folks keep them straight (yeah--like that's going to happen, right!)--but we also concluded that many issues overlap--so I think you added one board, and re-titled the others--and left it at that.

Yeah, I don't think it's wise to add boards for the sake of merely having more boards. But if we could really *use* them, and they would genuinely help with forum-organization, then I think it's a good idea .. especially now that we have the server horsepower that could handle more boards, and the extra users this might enable.

OKay, I added the boards. See what you think. We can tweak as necessary.

To avoid confusion, shouldn't the "NightOwl's Bootable CD/DVD" board be titled "NightOwl's Ghost 2003 Bootable CD/DVD"?
Or is someone going to provide guides for other Ghost versions?

Edit:  I just read the sub-title, which I missed the first time, so I guess I answered my own question.
"This board is dedicated to discussions about NightOwl's Bootable CD/DVD, and all bootable CD/DVDs, specifically how to create them."

John, I think we will tweak these as we go. NightOwl has admin functions and can tweak it as he likes.

I would certainly be more than happy to create any type of board Magoo wants. He has lots of great knowledge. I'm always picking his brain.
