Forum Reply Text Font Size--Again!

Now that things have hopefully slowed down a little--I thought I'd revisit this.

I recently used the forum's *Reply Box* in the *Private Message* (PM) response area for the first time with the new forum software--the font there was very large (I'm using the *blk_gry3d-large_font* which is set at *16* for the *Textarea*)!  So, the css style sheet appears to be working as advertised in that text *Reply Box*!

When you first installed the upgraded forum software to the test sub-directory, and before you had done much tweaking, the font for the thread *Reply Box* was adjustable using the *Text Area (Textarea)* option in the *Forum Layout/Style Sheet* in the Admin area.

As close as I can tell, that adjustability *disappeared* soon after you started playing with the forum templates that changed the appearance from the default color and layout scheme to the black and grey color schemes.  And, that change also disabled that function for the *default* template as well.

I have to assume that the forum scheme templates that you applied added a *font size statement* to the governing file that creates the webpage for creating one's thread reply.

You reported that you were able to edit a file, Post.pl (Found in the Sources directory) to change the size of the *Reply Box*--(see here:  http://www.yabbforum.com/community/YaBB.pl?num=1200437621 ).

Quote:
<textarea name="message" id="message" rows="12" cols="90" style="height: 195px; width: 568px; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 11px; padding: 5px; margin: 0px; visibility: visible;" onclick="javascript:storeCaret(this);" onkeyup="javascript:storeCaret(this);" onchange="javascript:storeCaret(this);" tabindex="4"></textarea>

The above quote is the webpage code (by using *View > Source* menu item once the page is loaded) for when you click to create a thread post, or to reply to a thread post--and it has a *hard coded* font size--font-size: 11px !  Notice it also has your exact edits for the text box size as mentioned in the YaBB post!  I simply did a text search for *textarea* to find the coding.

Does that Post.pl file also have, in the same area as the edits you did for the *Reply Box* size statements, a *font-size: 11px* statement?

If *yes*, can you edit that file, Post.pl, by removing that *font-size: 11px*, so no font size statement exists, so I can see if that allows the text font size to be adjusted by the css style sheet again?

This feature (it seems) has been incorporated into Y2.21 .. which should be done soon. (They've been saying that for a while.)

They inserted a little "+" (plus) sign at the lower-right corner of the box, which you can click to increase font-size to 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 pixels. (16 is max)

I'll definitely upgrade to Y2.21 .. or maybe sooner if the moon gets full soon. =)

They said 2.21 will be upgraded tomorrow. Not sure if they're kidding or not.

And yes, it remembers your preference (so you don't have to change it every time).

I'll wait for the *full moon*!

But, I'm sure that when you first installed the test install of the new software--it was responding to the css style sheet edits in the Admin area.  Still betting one of the templates added code to the governing file that's over-riding the css style sheet functionality.
