Multi-Network Bootable CD
Mar 26th, 2008 at 3:06pm

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on creating a multi-network bootable CD that presents a menu with options to choose which machine, as an admin, one is pushing so it knows which NIC drivers to load. We have about 7 different hardware configurations here, so consolidating all 7 boot cds that I've already made (with Ghost 11, or suite 2.0.1) into one disk would be great!

We have to use a CD because not all machines have DVD drives. I'd like to create a single disk solution.

I checked around and NightOwls guide is great, but I didnt see a multi-network boot cd in there (did I miss something)?

Thanks in advanced guys!

Hi. Got your PM. NightOwl is the resident bootable CD/DVD guru. He should be swooping by soon. Interesting topic.

Boot discs--I know quite a bit about--but networking drivers and how they work--not so much...., but...:

There are several approaches--it will depend somewhat on what you want and what meets your needs:

This reference is a good one on how to create your own multi-nic boot disc:

How to Create a Ghost 8.0 Network Boot CD

Here's a thread from our forum:

Ghost 8.3 Multi-Nic Multicast Boot Cd... here's how.....

These *universal* network boot disks have information on how to use their disks with Ghost--and how to add additional network drivers if yours is not already included:

Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk--Download page

TeleData Consulting FREE Universal Network/CD Boot Disk

And, the Windows Ghost Boot Wizard has an option to create a *multicard template*--to add 4 to 5 different NIC drivers to a single boot floppy--which could be modified to have your personal DOS menu, and be used to create a bootable optical disc.

Let us know if these help--and what the results of your efforts are.
