ghost 11.0.1 maybe a new problem?@?

Happy to find this forum!

I have a major problem when ghosting labs of GX 270's IDE HD, my method is a boot cd to ghost 11.0.1 and dump the image to or from an external usb HD. I get speeds of 80-100 MB/min and it takes hours to make or dump an image. I have updated the bios to A07 and can not find a newer NIC driver as suggested....any ideas? Is it the USB 2.0 HD? I use this drive on our other dells and dont have any speed issues.

Pretty much the only thing you can really attempt with a lemon like a GX270 which is not designed for for compatibility with industry standards is to use Windows PE instead; get a copy of the WAIK and run the 32-bit version of Ghost on a Windows PE environment built with that. If you're lucky, the Windows PE default driver load includes enough of the specific drivers you need just for the GX270's hardware to let Ghost32 work.

By the way, 11.0.1 isn't current; 11.0.2 build 1573 is the last LiveUpdate in the 2.0 before the next major rev (GSS 2.5).

How about testing the transfer speed with add-on USB 2.0 card?

USB is always slow.  Nothing new about that!

14 CD's to back up a HD is excessive.  I think I'd be doing some serious cleanup on that drive before trying  a Ghost backup again. Roll Eyes
Minimize your data and minimize your problems.

I regularly reduce the size of my data by over 3 gig's by removing all the junk before I do a Ghost backup.  I can still get my entire backup, with High Compression on a six gig flash drive, or just one DVD.

Sounds like you need to revise your backup strategy!
I still use Ghost 2003 to backup my Windows XP drive.  It works like a champ! Wink

Good Luck,
