GHOST 10 RECOVERY CD/BART PE BROADCOM B57 DRIVERS
Jul 4th, 2008 at 5:32am

Hi everyone,
I followed the intstructions on a thread here, to create a Ghost 10 Recovery CD using BARTPE that included the Broadcom B57 NIC drivers for my new Lenovo 89757MG Desktops.
(Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_169A&SUBSYS_101517AA&REV_02\4&360A6DE&0&00E1)
CD was created sucessfully and boots into the the Ghost 10 Recovery environment fine.
However when I attempt to start network services i get the error message "An unexpected network error has occured" and consequently can't configure any network settings.
I read up a few things on google and tried another CD that had teh DOS NDIS2 driver (b57.dos) but got the same result.
I'm not sure what else to to try or to check. I even made a disk where i put the b57xp32.sys file into the SUPPORT/DRIVERS folder but got the same result.
I'm not sure what I am missing. Any help much appreciated.
I tried Ghosting to a DVD image but it took forever and then stalled on DVD number 4!
Shocked Undecided

WingIT,

Would you mind posting a link to the thread you followed? I think it's Mustang's thread but I can't find it now.

Found it.

Are you putting your NIC drivers in \drivers\Net folder?

If you make a BartPE CD (without Ghost), does your network card work?

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
Didn't post the link becuase it was my first post Tongue
I will try making a BARTPE without Ghost and with the NIC drivers and will report back the result.
I was putting the NIC drivers in the \drivers\net folder but in a sub folder called DT_NIC as you are instructed to create a folder there and put your NIC drivers in it.

I have built a BARTPE CD without Ghost but got the "'startnet.cmd' is not recognized as in internal or external command" error. I think I need to know which plugins to enable as I am a BARTPE noob.
Any pointers gratefully received.
I also put my NIC driver files directly under the /net folder to make things simpler.
Any further help gratefully received. Shocked

Well to make this problem go away as I cannot find a way to get the Broadcom Drivers to work, I borrowed a PCI NIC from a PC that the Recovery CD works fine with and I'll just stick it in each machine, and temporarily disable the on board NIC for ghosting purposes.
It is definitely the fault of the drivers.

WingIT,

Which drivers are you using? I had my B57 working (previous computer) with a ReatogoXPE CD. It "harvested" the drivers and I still have them.

Hi Brian,
=======================================
From the inf file:

DriverVer   = 03/19/2008,10.78.0.0
=================================
And there is a B7.dos file in there too along with the xp32 one.
They re the latest drivers for the built in NIC in a Lenovo 89757MG Desktop from here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=...

I've not used the Reatogo CD. Can you use Mustangs guide to blend it with a Ghost 10 recovery CD?

No. Unfortunately.

My drivers are

b57xp32.inf  (August 2005)    InfVersion   8.39.1.0.A
b57xp32.sys  (August 2005)

You are welcome to try these. PM your email.

Sorry Brian. Drivers didn't work. Got a Check WINBOM error and Unexpected Network Error. Not sure the Ghost/BartPE is actually sticking the drivers in properly?
