Running Ghost 2002 from an usb flash drive ?
Oct 19th, 2008 at 12:18pm

Hello,
i am using Ghost 2002 since .... it was issued and i am 200% pleased with it. I never upgraded to a newer version (2003 or others) and see no reason why i should (I have always few older FAT32 formatted hdd drives i used for storage, incl for *.gho files)..
However, i don't want to include any floppy drive in my latest build..
Has anyone succeeded to run Ghost 2002  from a bootable flash drive ?
I created a bootable usb disk, but after having copied ghostpe.exe on it, the program freeze after few seconds of use
Looks like the issue is that the usb key drive label is not A:, but i am not sure how to force the flash drive to be labeled A:...
All help will be very much appreciated  Smiley

"It's not nice to fool mother nature"!!! Wink Grin Grin Grin

Well, you can't fool Ghost either.
Even if you fool DOS to think the flash drive is A:,
Ghost is not so easily fooled, because it physically goes to the
FD port on the motherboard to find a floppy disk.

If you'll just use a USB floppy drive, all will be well with Ghost, because it will look just like an internal floppy.

I flatly refuse to build a new system without a floppy drive.
For a tech, that's insane.  There's just too many things that will only work correctly from a floppy disk.

Good Luck,
