Calendar Software??

Since I retired during the summer (after 35 years of eating corporate BS) I can't seem to keep track of what day it is. Consequently I have missed some appointments.
Can anyone suggest a calendar program that will display popup reminders when appointments are imminent? When I was a wage slave we used Lotus Notes which did this well but that is expensive and has much more capability than I want or need.
I don't use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express and prefer something non Microsoft-related.
Thanks,
Richard

My personal favorite calendar program is *Alarm ++*. It's a shareware program that you can try out before you buy--it will allow only a limited number of reminders until you register and pay:

I have a nice calendar tacked to my kitchen cabinets right where I make my morning coffee. I write all my appointments right on the calendar.
That way, no hard drive crash will leave me brainless.
For my service calls, I write them on tickets that I print up on my PC printer and I tack them up right above my telephone, using 'Push Pins'.
At 65 and counting, I trust NOTHING to the old memory.
Calendar software? Forgetaboutit!
Cheers Mate!
