Windows 2000 Professional Startup CD
Jan 18th, 2009 at 10:49pm

Do I recall correctly that the only way the 2000 Pro disc provides to begin an install is to use a program on the disk called something like "makedisk" and it makes 10 floppies that you have to use one at a time to load the setup program?

If so, where can I find directions to convert those 10 floppies to a bootable CD?  I know it can't be that hard to do...

Well not 10 i think it is just 4 if i remember correctly. And the whole executable which does that, is there in the setup disc.

Now gone are days of using floppy which tends to give up when needed. So i suggest make a bootable CD if you wanna install Win2000/XP.

The process of making bootable CD is same for Win2000/XP provided you have the full setup with you.

I would suggest just google the text something like slipstreaming service pack in win2000 or XP.

It would tell u procedure to slipstream and then make a bootable disc.  Skip the first part if you dont want to slipstream and use the second one to create a bootable disc.
