Bootable image on a cd/dvd
Feb 24th, 2009 at 10:52am

Hello All,
I am trying to put a ghost image file on a cd/dvd and make the cd/dvd bootable. When I boot from the cd/dvd I can point the restore window to the image on the cd disk and have it restore from there.

I have GSS 1.1 which is Ghost 8.3.
I have 2 bbot floppies created froom the ghost boot wizard.

Any step-by-step procedure will be greatly apprecciated. THanks in advance

First you will need a program like Nero. You will need to burn a bootable disc. Where it asks for the source of the boot image select your A: drive.

If you want to automate, all you would have to do is put the ghost restore command in the autoexec.exe

Duh!  I'm missing something here.....

If you run Ghost from a boot floppy in A: it will make a DVD for you and ask you if you want to make it bootable, with the info on the boot floppy in A:.

Even if you don't let Ghost make the DVD bootable, all you have to do is boot up with your floppies and then access the DVD as the source for the restore.  It's actually a pretty straight forward process.

That's just the way Ghost works!

So tell me..... what am I missing, or maybe what are YOU missing?

Cool

A lot of devices no longer have a floppy drive.

I use an external usb when I want to use a floppy. They are quite cheap less than $10.

He just said that he had two boot floppies, so I'd have to conclude that he also has a floppy disk drive.  Right?
Yes, a USB floppy drive will work on SOME systems, but not all.
Some el'cheapo systems will not boot from a USB device at all.

Cool
