How do you like the new blue/green links?
Apr 7th, 2009 at 12:17am

I changed from the orange to make the forums looks more like the home page.

Easy to change back if you don't like.

Do you think the blue is too bright?

The color is same as the roll-over color from the home page .. which os slightly brighter than the normal unvisted link color.

I hardly notice the difference.  Shows how observant I am of such things, I guess...

Don't feel bad...I can't even figure out what has changed!!!

However, I usually use the original *default* forum template because some of the forum *features* don't exist in the *grey/black* template that is currently set as the default...so maybe there hasn't been a change to that original template!?

If anything can go wrong, it already did, and you just now noticed it.

To my eyes it is too bright and hard. I prefer the softer look of the previous page.

Much better than earlier...less 'glare'.

Hope you keep it this way, a pleasant change.

What do you think now? (Might have to hit the refresh button to load the new CSS.)

I toned-down the brightness of the blue links.

Trying to figure out how to un-bold the Board names .. which are the only things bolded. I would like to normalize that text, but can't seem to figure out where to do that. I removed all bold from the CSS, so it must be controlled somewhere else.

This shade of bluish-green (or whatever you want to call it) is the exact same link-color as what I have on the home page, which I feel is pretty subtle .. maybe too subtle??

Especially cuz the backgrounds of these forums pages are not ALL black (#000000) .. like the homepage is .. so less contrast here .. which might introduce some readability probs with some types of monitors. On my laptop, I can see the links fine .. and like the subtle-ness.

I like that much better. It (the green/blue text) doesn't jump out at me now.

I've always liked the colours on your home page and the green/blue bars at the sides are very soothing.

Cool. I feel the same. We'll see if anybody has visibility problems. Are you also use an LCD screen monitor?

That makes two of us!  Grin

Ah, hadn't thought of that, but blue is known as a soothing color. Had a guy tell me recently, that when I go to pick up the Bug, "Don't wear red. Wear something blue." So as to not agitate his mom. =)

My *bad*!  Of recent, I see the *gry-blk* default forum template when I'm at work where I will visit as a *guest*--I don't sign in--I don't have time to reply to posts usually.

So, I see the forum from a *guest* point of view.  Yesterday when playing with some of the different templates--I realized the *missing features* where the difference between being logged-in vs seeing the forum from the guest perspective!

(As a side note--I can't remember exactly why--but I think I started using the original *default forum* template because the *gry-blk* was missing the navigation aids that allowed one to click back the to the board listing of topics from a specific thread--but that does not appear to be the case any longer--there are return buttons for going back to the board at the end of the thread in the *gry-blk* as well as the *default forum* template.

By the way--the LCD monitor at work is older, loosing its brightness--set as high as it can go--the new links are a little harder to see on that monitor, but acceptable--just have to look closer to read them!--not a problem on my two year old LCD at home--looks great there!

I switched to the forum *default* template of *gry-blk* (which is small font sizes--and harder to see on a 1680 x 1050 resolution monitor  Wink ) and noted a couple inconsistencies in the link colors:

1.  at the bottom of the individual replies where it list *Email, View Profile, Personal Message, and WWW*--only *Personal Message* has the new link color--the rest are *white*!

2.  At the top and bottom of the thread where you have the menu bar with *Reply, Add Poll, Add Topic Notification, etc.*--those links are all *white*

3.  The *bread crumb* navigation link at the top of the thread is *white* until you mouse over it, and then it changes to the new color.

4.  The *moderator* list at the top of the thread has the new color until you mouse over--then the name turns *white* with a *white underline*--other links stay the blue/green color and only a *white underline* occurs.

5.  *Back to Top*  changes to all *white* when moused over.

6.  The navigation menu bar at the bottom of the thread with *Home, Board, Top of this page* are all *white*, and change to blue/green as well as a blue/green underline!

Not really asking that you change any of this--just pointing out the there appears to be multiple link entries that are different in character and behavior!!!

u suk.  Smiley

i am still looking for a good updated replacement to this theme (blk_gry3d). The last one I tried suk'ed major CPU usage .. I think due to the graphic overlay they used. This one was actually created for an older version of YaBB .. which is why I ask about the diffs.

that's interesting, cuz they are all grouped together .. so you'd think they'd all get the same color, either one or the other. very observant of you, watson.
