E-Sata and Ghost 2003
May 3rd, 2009 at 1:33pm

Have any of you readers of this forum had any problems using an external Sata drive with Ghost 2003?  My PC has two regular Sata internal hard drives and they work extremely well and fast.  I want to replace an old dying external USB drive with an e-sata drive.

I don't expect it to be a problem but it never hurts to ask.

Who are you, textdawg? Did you change your user name?

What is the diff between eSATA and regular SATA? .. other than an external cable/connection?

eSATA is new and Ghost 2003 is old so I wouldn't be surprised if driver issues crept up.

Here's a thread about a guy having driver issues with Ghost 10 + SATA.

Rad,

I used to be Clevelandtxus and changed my user name to Texdawg.

As far as my new motherboard is concerned, Ghost 2003 has no problems detecting my internal SATA drives.  Also, Ghost 2003 now finds my USB external drives without the need of any USB drivers.  Native support right off the mobo!  I suspect that an e-Sata drive should also work but I would have to buy and try to really find out.

As far as my motherboard is concerned it is an ASUS M3A78-T that I installed back in January and I've had no problems with it.

Oh, 'Tex' .. not text. Shows where my head is at.

You must be from Texas. (?) I get more donations from Texans than all other 49 states combined. Maybe I should move there.  Smiley

I'm surprised you're getting so much driver support from Ghost 2003 out of the box. I still think G2003 is the best (most reliable) of all cloning products .. if you can get it to work with your hardware .. which, it sounds like you have.

In any case, have you seen NightOwl's "Better USB driver" thread?

Rad,

Until I switched mobo's, I used the Panasonic USB drivers.  When I first switched to my new mobo my PC hung up in DOS when searching for my USB hardware.  It was then I excluded the drivers only to find Ghost 2003 was finding my USB drives without any drivers.

Okay, so you know about those drivers.

Well, *some* USB drvers are obviously being used .. cuz you can't access hardware without drivers, right? So either G2003 contains some, or maybe mobo bios .. since that was all that changed when you upgraded. Good question.
