How to build a Windows PE [Vista] UFD that contains Ghost32.exe

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2008010311232760?Op...

I need help on these lines

d. copy "[NIC driver location]" c:\winpe_x86\ISO (Vista Driver only)
e. copy "[mass storage driver location]" c:\winpe_x86\ISO (Vista Driver only)

What exactly I should put on the "[NIC driver location]" and "[mass storage driver location]"?

If I were using Vista installed in drive C: what should I do?

Had anyone already tried using that UFD?

Unless I'm mistaken Ghost 2003 won't work for Vista.  A better option for Vista backup is Seagate DiscWizard or Maxblast5 both of which are free to download and use.

Be careful Tator, you'll get flamed like the shadow did for saying things like that!  Wink Grin Grin

There actually is a way, to use Ghost 2003 with Vista, but it entails some jumping through hoops and other gymnastics to get the restored image to boot the PC.

Personally, I agree with you, that using some other alternative backup software would be best.
I have both of the programs that you suggest and find that they indeed WORK.  I found them both written up extensively, in the Ghost alternatives forum.

The full retail version of Acronis True Image 9 also works a treat, as does Ghost 11.5.

Where there's a will, there's a way! Wink

Even if Ghost 2003 works I wouldn't want to jump through hoops.  I like to keep it as simple as possible, and Seagate DiscWizard does a great job and is very easy to use with no extra steps required.

The post refers to ghost32 in a PE environment so I don't think they are referring to ghost 2003 but more like ghost 11.

I would assume something like this...
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\"name of driver for your device"
go to device manager and view details of the driver for your devices and it will list the path to the driver that vista is using. I have not done this myself but it seems that is what is is asking for so it can copy the driver needed to the proper location on the cd or iso.

If anything can go wrong, it already did, and you just now noticed it.

There is one of those "Ultimate Boot CD's" out there with Ghost 11.5 program and also Ghost Explorer already on it and ready to run.

I found it and downloaded it about a year ago.

But 10-4.....The Seagate or Maxtor disks work just fine.
They both use Acronis True Image 9, which is also available over the internet.
The advantage to that is that it will work on ANY make or model of hard drive, without any futzing around.

Be sure to have an image of your system before downloading "Ultimate Boot CD's" and using any CD made from it.  After booting to a CD from one I downloaded made my Windows appear on K drive, and I don't even have a K drive.  Luckily I had a recent image of my C drive to restore to fix the problem since I was unable to boot Windows otherwise.

NOBODY that answered gets it. Except ckcc
I think nobody of them open and read the link I gave.

I don't have Vista so I don't know the location of the drivers.

It has nothing to do if ghost can clone vista or not.

I mean, look at the site. The site I gave is from SYMANTEC ghost itself.

Ah. I guess you'll have to search the net for the Vista drivers for your particular hardware, check on the manufacturer's site, download them and use the location where you save them. sorry I can't give more details but i'm not really experienced with this.

This led me to believe you were running vista.
