NTFS vs FAT32

I have a 500GB Western Digital My Book ES external usb/eSATA hard drive. It came, and still is formatted FAT32. As such it has 32KB sectors. If I format it NTFS, it will have 4KB sectors. Is there a good/any reason
not
to reformat it NTFS? I think it will be used primarily as a destination for backup images.

DirkB, to some extent, it is a matter of personal preference. However, note that NTFS is a more robust file system than FAT and therefore, in almost all circumstances, is the better choice.

Thanks Pleo. I suppose I should probably format the drive as an extended partition, as I will not be using it to boot?

yeah. ntfs. but do a reformat not a conversation.
once you start putting data on it, it gets harder to reformat.
mine is fat32 .. was given to me, 500 gig seagate.
wish it was ntfs.
all new externals now seem to come fomatted as ntfs.
