	NTFS vs FAT32 Jun 21^st, 2009 at 11:47am I have a 500GB Western Digital My Book ES external usb/eSATA hard drive. It came, and still is formatted FAT32. As such it has 32KB sectors. If I format it NTFS, it will have 4KB sectors. Is there a good/any reason not to reformat it NTFS? I think it will be used primarily as a destination for backup images.

	Re: NTFS vs FAT32 Reply #1 - Jun 21^st, 2009 at 4:24pm DirkB, to some extent, it is a matter of personal preference. However, note that NTFS is a more robust file system than FAT and therefore, in almost all circumstances, is the better choice.

	Re: NTFS vs FAT32 Reply #3 - Jun 21^st, 2009 at 9:51pm yeah. ntfs. but do a reformat not a conversation. once you start putting data on it, it gets harder to reformat. mine is fat32 .. was given to me, 500 gig seagate. wish it was ntfs. all new externals now seem to come fomatted as ntfs.
