I have never seen Nero Free before:
http://filehippo.com/download_nero_free/
Anybody heard of it?
I am a big fan of Nero Burning ROM .. from way back.
Tho recently prefer Nero Express, cuz I don't like all the extra krap it comes with.
Just wanna burn.

Rad,
The offer is not as good as it seems.

Thanks.
The download itself is 55 MB. I didn't install. Expands to 135 MB? Yikes
Nero used to rock when they focused on burning. Then they got into everything else .. trying to take over your PC.
So I guess this is a new offering. I would imagine the economy had something to do with their decision.

Ubuntu used to ship with GnomeBaker. Now, it ships w/ Brasero. Both are simple, to the point burning programs. I only see Linux versions of both. Source is available, but I'm not positive it would work in Windows even if you got it to compile.
K3b is also popular. Also looks to be Linux only. Darn. Maybe the hardware API's are just too different to make a burning program work on both Linux and Windows.

Years ago, I printed out and took the Nero help file to Yosemite with me .. for a few weeks .. read the whole thing, cover to cover (hopeless geek) .. so I got a good handle on burning back before it became the carefree thing it is today.
So I'm familiar with both the Nero interface & its terminology.
But like I said, they started adding extra after extra .. to the point that they've become synonymous with 'bloat'.

AFAIK, there's a Nero Standard Edn (which includes Nero Express, but not Nero Burning ROM) with most all
boxed

I own Nero Pro, but when I last installed it, I DE-Selected all the extra stuff (junk) and only loaded (installed) the Burning Rom software.
However, for something rediculously quick and simple, ImgBurn a free program is hard to beat.

It's much easier to use for making an ISO or burning an ISO.
I hardly use Nero any more at all. It can just be way too complicated, for simple operations. But, it's still good if you want to select certain files for burning to a CD/DVD. I like the simple drag-n-drop method they use.
A man with experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument.
