Moving the site to a new server - yet AGAIN
Mar 5th, 2012 at 2:50pm

Got this around noon today (Monday the 5th)

Quote:
We have noticed continued stability issues with the hardware node your server is presently residing upon. To ensure the highest level of service, we are migrating your data to a stable node to improve quality of service. We will be in communication through out the migration process. Should you have any questions or concerns along the way, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'll let ya know when we're done.

There are a few different ways to do a migration. The method that I am going to use for this migration will retain all subdomains. We will definitely test this before rerouting your IP addresses to the new hardware node.

As far as the migration done in January, I'm not sure of the specifics of that move. This one is necessary because of the virtualization software we are using on your current node. There are elements of the environment which we have determined are too unstable for a production environment. We are moving everyone off this node and downgrading to the previous version.

This should eliminate the instability that we have been experiencing.

The software he's talking about is Virtuozzo. Re:

Was that one of the problems that was being addressed?  I've noticed a fair bit of delays having the site respond after clicking it's link in the last couple months.

well, they said "instability" this last move, which they initiated themselves.

b4 that was lag/latency, which i complained about.

but for sure, instability can affect responsiveness.

also a factor is page size. bigger = longer.

also your isp
