Server reboot due to RAIDD controller overheating

Quote:
We are contacting you to make you aware that the hardware node that your server resides on was rebooted for emergency maintenance. The RAID controller began to experience overheating issues. These issues appear to be cleared up. Unfortunately, due to the hardware node's high uptime, a filesystem check was forced. We are monitoring this check closely and will send out another email when we have confirmed that service has been restored. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know

Can't help but notice that the sentence "The RAID controller began to experience overheating issues" .. could have been written more simply > The RAID controller overheated. Or even "was overheating". Either way, seems it was toasty and needed replacing.

Anybody notice any issues? Yesterday (Friday the 7th) seemed slow.

Well, I wasn't on the website long enough to notice any slowdowns.

I guess even servers experience slowdowns when it has to do more than one task at a time  Smiley --or did they mean the whole site was *offline* during the filesystem check?!

yeah, i think they do the check after the reboot, and nothing loads until the file system has been verified or repaired.
