Ghost 2003 - Win 7
Oct 11th, 2012 at 11:54am

I have been using Ghost 2003 to make images of my boot drive, and clone then to hdd to use in new systems.

Recently, I started using Win 7 on my main system. Now I got a new 128GB SSD and made an image of the current HDD with Win 7. This image has the 2 Win 7 partitions.

When I cloned this image to the SSD, it would not boot. I have Googled this to death, and got too much info and it is confusing and not answering my basic question:

What is the process I must do to use Ghost 2003 to make a Win 7 image of my HDD, and successfully clone that image to my SSD?

Can anyone here help?

If there is a different free program I need to use, let me know, but I like Ghost 2003.

Anyone know a person named Kurt?

I can understand. First, would you like to get the OS on your SSD booting? We can deal with Ghost 2003 later.

There is supposed to be a "work around" because Win-7 uses a different HD format that Ghost 2003 was never designed to handle.  The backup goes just fine, but the Restored HD won't boot.

I too ran into this problem after using Ghost 2002 and 2003 for many years.
The solution to the problem for me was Ghost 11.5, which I also run from a DOS boot disk.
It looks and runs exactly like Ghost 2003, but handles the new format for Vista, Win-7 and even Win-8 with no problems.

Cheers Mate!

Not really. Ghost 2003 works if used appropriately.

Can't get any freer than a program you already have!

Why are you not responding to someone who has offered to help--using what you already have?!
