I am running ghost 32 11.5 3.96 MB from my desktop and I am trying to do a peer to peer disk to image.
The source machine is running XP and the destination machine is running Windows 7.
Everything was going okay until the progress indicator showed that approximately 10% of the source disk was processed. Then I get a pop-up box which says question: (1824). Image file already exists - overwrite?
When I chose no I got the following pop-up box.
Spam volume[1] done (1658)
Symantec ghost needs to create a new image span. Please either choose browse to select a new drive and file name, or insert new disk and choose okay.
I chose browse. That brought up the following pop-up screen entitled:
name of portion to image. Look in: and it brought up the root of the destination drive.
There were three GHS files located there.
2013 001. GHS          2, 147, 458, 823          3:26 PM
2013 002. GHS          2, 147, 471, 602          3:29 PM
2013 003.GHS           1, 703, 158,011            3:32 PM
Nevertheless, I supplied a file name of Monday and I pressed enter.
Things went badly. The creation of the image continued, but it listed speed as 14 MB with completion time of 24 hours.

any suggestions ?

i think the original name i specified for the Ghost image file was 80xpJun2012

i picked the path through ghost.  it was to  e:\gho2013\acer of my hp9 pc.

it was unique

Span is correct

     what i just noticed there is no .ghs file on the destination

I started using Ghost as a DOS program back in 1997 as a Demo version, from the original authors in NZ.

It was necessary to use DOS Notation when naming files (8.3).  That is no more than 8 characters in the file name and three characters in the extension.

I've continued with that same naming scheme to this very day.
A typical Ghost backup file name for me would be, "XP080413".
Where XP is the OS I'm backing up and the rest is the date.  So NO two Ghost backups will ever have the same name.
