Page 3/6 Therefore, students must apply for the extension before the end of the previous semester in order to assure that the petition process will be completed by the registration deadline. Students who need to use CNTV facilities or equipment of any kind into a Z semester must pay an additional $500 facilities and insurance fee per semester. This fee wfll be attached to their fee bill. There will be no extensions of facilities beyond five semesters. If students are not complete after five semesters, they will lose access to facilities but can apply for a final Z (e semester extension) to finish the project using non-USC facilities. Z semester students who do not need CNTV facilities will have their production numbers cancelled and will no longer have access to CNTV facilities and equipment. They will not be charged the $500 facilities and insurance fee. (Although you still need to register for 581Z until the project is completed and can be graded! See definition of Completion on page 5) After 6 semesters, if the project is still not complete, it will be terminated. If an incomplete project is terminated, the creator(s) of the project will receive a grade and will lose all access to CNTV facilities and equipment. The grade will reflect that the project is incomplete. In addition, the project will not be eligible for a First Look screening.*** DAILIES & TELECINE: All 581 film projects (16 & 35MM) are advised to work print & synch dailies during production. The school will provide low cost sound transfers from Nagra to mag and synching stations. Low cost telecine may also be provided. If the students elect to digitize directly from the negative, the final cut must be conformed and screened for the Mentor before picture lock.
