TDS-3 Trojan Scanner NOT
Nov 27th, 2005 at 11:15pm

I sprung for a full copy of TDS-3 some time ago, partly as a result of reading about it in Rad's site.

Not too long ago I attempted to search for updates and was directed to a page where they say modern firewalls and antivirus programs have made TDS-3 redundent.

Thus they are not supporting it anylonger.

I guess there was some comfort in having *another* scanner to keep problems out of my computer.   Apparently Norton Antivirus, Sygate firewall and Spybot Search and Destroy are quit effective since I haven't found a threat on my system in a long time.  At least I don't know of any  Tongue

Soon someone will start selling rootkit scanners and the merrygoround ride will start again.

For information on both free and commercial rootkit detection options, see the thread "Rootkits:  Beyond Viruses & Spyware" on this forum at:
http://radified.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=general;action=display;num=11219....

Sysinternals provides RootkitRevealer (free); the SpySweeper product (version 4.5) by Webroot now scans for rootkits.  I use both on a routine maintenance basis.
