Pleo, do you happen to know if this is Automated System Recovery (ASR), featured in WinXP?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818903

If not, howdoes it differ?

Rad, the sum total of my knowledge of the Windows Vista image backup tool comes from the link in the initial post.  I can't intelligently comment upon whether the imaging capability in Windows Vista is the same as ASR in Windows XP.

Let's keep an eye out for more information as we get closer to the launch of Windows Vista . . . .

Rad, you’ll want to review this presentation by Microsoft that provides additional details on the Windows Vista image backup capability:
  • Brand new backup and restore features for Windows Vista
  • CompletePC™ backup and restore - Block-level image
  • Point-in-time “snapshots” of a disk
  • Guaranteed consistency and file access
  • Easy restore via Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE)
  • Backup file is VHD format (Virtual PC)
This sure doesn’t sound like ASR in Windows XP – right?
