Ghost 10 and the new Intel MOBO's

I have had no problems w/ Ghost 10.  I have bought a new MOBO- Intel DG33-FB.  I have 1 SATA HD drive connected to the 0 SATA connection and 1 IDE connection card that has the IDE HD connected to it.  I long as Ghost stays in Windows I can back up and restore w/ no problems.  But when you insert the Ghost CD into the CD drive now the fun begins.  The SATA drive and the usb ports are not showing up.  All that shows up is the IDE connection card w/ no data on it.  It had no data on purpose
In the BIOS I have the board set up as IDE and not ACHI( I think that is want it said).  Called Intel and they said the MOBO is set up correctly.

I looked at creating a BartPE and all of the instructions are in Greek to me as I am not a programmer.  If no one has any ideas as to what is going on this is what I need help w/

Create Bart PE or Reatogo CD
create a plugin for Ghost 10
Create a plugin for TI-10

I tried to read Brians instructions but got lost

Carolina_Mike,

Firstly, there is no Ghost 10 plugin for BartPE. Unfortunately.

Regarding the "absent" SATA HD, are you loading SATA drivers from a floppy when you boot to the Ghost 10 CD?

Brian,
Intel stated you do not have to load the SATA Drivers as it is set the IDE in the Bios.  Actually the SATA drivers are bigger than a floppy can hold.  Intel has not sent out floppies w/ the MOBO's since the 945 or 965 series.  If I could get it on a floppy I would but alas there is no way unless you use the CD-Rom

I really thought that you could create your own custom plug-in for Reatogo or Bart's PE

I'm no expert on SATA. I found this on the Intel site while researching your MB.

Although WinXP may not need floppy SATA drivers, the Ghost 10 CD may need them. Intel talk about the F6 installation method so they must have drivers that fit on a floppy. You only need  IASTOR.INF, IASTOR.CAT, IASTOR.SYS, and TXTSETUP.OEM.

I don't know whether you need to temporarily change your BIOS to AHCI when you use the floppy and the Ghost 10 CD. I know this shouldn't be done when booting to Windows.

Perhaps Intel need to provide more information for your situation.

I have also sent the info to Symantec for a custom Recovery disk w/ the info they need.  I really hope they can help.

Brian,
I did send the files to Norton and they came through w/ a New Recovery iso for me to burn to CD.  It does see the C: Drive and the USB external drives.  I also sent them a thank you email and asked would I have to get them to make a special recovery disk for Ghost 12?  All in all they are about 500% faster than Acronis as I am also awaiting their recovery disk.

Carolina_Mike, with Norton Ghost 12, you can create your own custom Symantec Recovery Disk CD (see page 19+ in the Norton Ghost 12.0 User's Guide) that includes your PC's current network and storage device drivers.

Excellent news. The Ghost 12 CD probably has your drivers anyway but if not, Pleonasm has indicated what to do.

I had asked the customer service dept if that would work w/ the new MOBO's and they stated that it would not.  When I Dusty Dusty Asher
Sr. Technical Support Engineer/Technical Account Manager I asked that same question and he stated the new Ghost would see that board and all of the different USB Ports.  I think their sales dept. is a little behind in the Knowledge base.

You have to go through the site.  Go to Customer Service and on the lower left is "Contact Us".  Click on that and fill out the form and then follow the instructions to e-mail Symantec.  You will then get the can response but the next morning they sent an email w/ the d/l addy of their FTP Server for me to d/l from

The email addy for them was : nic_drivers@symantec.com

They were very quick w/ getting the disk to me.  You know you hear the people complaing about customer service w/ Symantec but that was not the case here.  On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give them a 10
