The hike follows an ancient Indian path and part of the John Muir Trail
The trail has long-served as one of the primary routes between
Tuolumne Meadows and the Yosemite Valley

The trail head begins at 8600-foot elevation beside Tuolumne Meadows.
Cathedral lake [Lower] sits at an elevation of 9300-feet.
Upper Cathedral Lake sits at an elevation of 9600-feet.
The hike is ~5 miles each way [both up and back].
