In this thread the discussion was going off topic:

I was referring to the Win 7 defragmenter, OC to the Win XP defragmenter and I thought that we might be comparing apples and oranges. I restored an Image of my WinXP partition and took a few screenshots of the results. I can only add two attachments to each post which means that there will be four posts, this one and the next using Auslogics Disk Defrag: 1a - Auslogics analyze after restore.JPG 1b - WinXPdefrag analyze after restore.JPG |

... and the next two screenshots:
1c - Auslogics after defrag and reanalyze.JPG 1d - WinXPdefrag analyze after Auslogics defrag.JPG I don't see the "God awful mess" after using Auslogics that OC told about. |

Next, I restored the same Image once more but used the WinXP defragmenter:
2a - WinXPdefrag analyze after restore.JPG 2b - Auslogics analyze after restore.JPG |

... and the two final screenshots:
2c - WinXPdefrag after defrag and reanalyze.JPG 2d - Auslogics analyze after WinXpdefrag defrag.JPG If anything, the "mess" seems to be more significant after using the WinXP defragmenter. |

I forgot to mention that after each restore of the Image, I installed Auslogics Disk Defrag 5400 which left a few fragmented files in the first analysis.
The few files that after defragmenting still are fragmented, is due to Symantec LiveUpdate running in the background. (That bloody thing is unstoppable.) Defragging using Auslogics took 3 min 14 sec. Defragging using the WinXP defragmenter took 3 min 59 sec. (Sorry about the attachments ... :-[ ... ) |
