Lost hard drive space after partitioning

Help!!! After using the guide on this site to repartition an old 2.5 GB hard drive using a Win98 startup disk I lost over 3/4 of my drive. Instead of recognizing it as 2.5 GB, it only registers as 512 MB! Despite multiple attempts to reformat agian so it would recognize the proper drive size, it still would not work. I even tried to use the factory-standard rescue disks to restore the original (albeit crappy) configuration, but it no longer recognized my computer due to the hard drive change and would not work. How can I fix it?

r u sure you used fat32?
a 512 mb partitions indicates fat12.
a 2.5gb drive is worthless today, when u can get 120-gig drives so cheaply. why don't u tos that dinosaur in the trash a get a new drive?
