Password protection for webpages...
Jan 8th, 2006 at 9:08pm

What is the best way to password protect individual webpage directories?  I'm looking for something that pops up a Windows XP type box when you click on a link (the way that Rad's site does.)

Thanks in advance.

this is a feature that comes with my web hosting package, and it works well, simple but effective. i would imagine that most web hosting packages come with some sort of feature that allows you to password protect pages/directories.

This can also be done with .htaccess.  You shouldn't need a specific web host to use .htaccess.  I don't know how to do it myself (although it's something I should learn.)

Try this link:

that's what i use: .htaccess

i have a utility that generates all the necessary coding. after you do it the first time, it's easy.
