Burning a multi-disc image.
Apr 5th, 2006 at 11:59am

Hello,

I'm currently trying to burn a copy of a multi-disc image that needs to be shipped to a few offices. The images were created with Norton Ghost 2003 and syspreped.

I am receiving a copyright error when I try to burn them with a few of the more popular cd creating utilites. Is there an issue that I just don't see? It doesn't seem as though a blank CD can be copywritten. I have tried many types of CDs and still no luck.

Is there a way to correct this issue? Is there any sort of a utility needed to burn copies of bootable syspreped multi-disc ghost images?

Thanks in advance.

I presume the systems where *syspreped* before creating the images.

*copyright* error--or *copyProtected * error--there would be a difference?!

Exact error from a specific program?

How was the source disk created--program(s) used and steps taken?

What are the exact steps being used to try to create your disc copies in a given program?

It looks as though it considers it to be copy righted, whatever that may mean. That is the error I get in Nero when i choose to copy the CD.

...

Now when i choose to do anything that involves this image, such as saving it to a drive on a computer, it tells me I have an improper mode.

Is that Nero Express, or *Copy Disc* vs the full Nero burning program?

I would try the full burning program and not one of the side programs.

This issue happens with each burning utility we have. Each of them have different versions of an error of course, but all similar. Easy CD creator, the full version and nero express have all failed.

I have attempted to copy the discs, send to, save tracks... no prevail.

dlee, why don't you try CloneCD. It claims to be of use in this situation. I think they have a 2 week trial period.

Dlee, I am dubious that the error is a consequence of the fact that the files to be burned to optical media are Ghost 2003 images.  In other words, the content of the files is probably not the root cause of the difficulty, in so far as the recording software is not cognizant of the application which generated the files.

To test this hypothesis, try renaming the Ghost image files to TEMP1.DAT, TEMP2.DAT (etc.) and try the burn operation.  If there is still a problem, then it most likely resides with the media, the recording software, or the optical drive itself.

An employee of mine and I have both tried CloneCD, no luck. The cd is created just fine, but it can't make a bootable one so it is no good to us, just data.

EDIT: IT WORKED! CLONECD DID THE TRICK. APPARENTLY I WAS GIVEN A CLONECD KNOCKOFF THAT WASNT ANY GOOD.

Thanks guys!

Good. Let us know if you discover where "copyrighted" came from.
