Ghost 10: How to EXPLORE a Ghost 12 image (if possible)
Jan 14th, 2008 at 10:44pm

Greetings Smiley

After fiddling a bit, I managed to get my notebook system drive image (running Ghost 12) written to a hard drive on my server PC currently running Windows 2000 Server (due to a failure with my 2003 which I must have broken somehow, and the message on the blue screen is impossible to read because it will only appear for 1/25 second... Angry )

You guessed it: Ghost 10 is the only way out, as Ghost 12 only supports XP and above (stupid marketing as ever; do not tell me it would be too much of an effort to port Ghost 12 to Win2k!!)

Only thing I cannot accomplish is *EXPLORING* my image on the destination machine. I just wanted to check whether all twenty-one 1 GB chunks were transferred correctly on my wireless LAN, but I cannot!
Nor can I install Ghost 12, because ... see above.

Is it possible at all to explore Ghost 12 images on Ghost 10, and if so, how?

grotty,

As you have found, the Ghost versions aren't backwards compatible.

If you boot the server to your Ghost 12 CD you will be able to explore your image (recovery point).
