Of course......I read the Ghost Alternatives page.
Well done.
I've tried many of the programs mentioned there and they have been summarily deleted.
However, working on my own, I found that the programs,
Sea Tools
from Seagate and
MaxBlast
from Maxtor do a great job of cloning any HD made by either of those two companies. You can clone a Maxtor drive to a WD, for instance, but at least one of the two drives in the operation must be either a Maxtor or Seagate drive.
Once installed on your HD, use the program to make a Bootable CD with the cloning program on it. Then you can delete the software from your HD to minimize the file load on the HD.
The cloning software was written by "Acronis True Image" and works very well. I've used it repeatedly myself and from a technical standpoint, I'm impressed.
There's NO need to spend any of your hard-earned money, as both of the programs I've mentioned here are completely
FREE!
I've bought a bunch of Maxtor drives in the last few years and every one of them has come with a MaxBlast CD.
I also have "Sea-Tools", which I downloaded for FREE from Seagates' web site.

PS: I feel I'd be remiss by not saying that Ghost 11.5 also backs up or clones Vista with NO problems what-so-ever.
