Bootable CD with Panasonic USB Driver
Feb 5th, 2009 at 4:00pm

Is there a guide to making bootable CDs with the Panasonic USB driver?

Could be I'm loosing my mind.  I can't find the threads about making a bootable CD that enables Ghost to see external USB hard drives.

I keep thinking I recently saw something on Rad's site about making these CDs with a Panasonic driver for XP, possibly newer than the old threads I remember but now I can't find anything like this.

Thanks,
Richard

Why??
I use the original boot CD to make Ghost images to an internal hard drive.  I want to start imaging to an external HD.

With so little info about your system and your drives, I can make NO educated response.
I still don't understand why you want Panasonic drivers.
Have you even tried to make a backup just using Ghost? Undecided

Cool

Shadow,
I don't think we are communicating very well.  I am not sure we are even talking about the same thing.

I have been making Ghost images to an internal hard drive for years using Nightowl's Project 1 bootable ghost CD.

Can you create a Ghost 2003 image on an external USB hard drive?  This is what I want to do.  If you can do  this I would like to know how.

I can remember long threads about making a bootable CD with a (Panasonic) driver to enable Ghost to see the USB ports.  This is Nightowl's Project 2.

Either I am imagining all this or those threads are gone or archived somewhere.

AHHHH,
I finally found the thread I was looking for.

http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1104185611

It looks like this wasn't developed to the point that Project 1 got to.  In other words I probably lack the skill to translate this to a usable CD Cry

Duh!  I've been making Ghost 2003 images to every media thinkable for years.....with NEVER any drivers or special switches.
And I do it all with my Ghost 2003 boot floppy.
NASCAR needs drivers.....Ghost don't!!! Wink Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Good Luck!

Hi Shadow,
I appreciate your feedback.

You use floppies to boot Ghost but I understand most  laptops, at least my wife's don't have floppy drives.  Also I have years long problems with good floppies becoming unreadable for no apparent reason.  Win Explorer reports they are unformatted.  This includes computers at work.  Some floppies will work on one computer and not others.

This is why I am wanting a Ghost CD with USB support.  I would like to make Ghost images on an external USB hard drive.  Admittedly on my last computer I used removable EIDE hard drives to do this with Nightowl's Ghost CD and it worked fine.  The CD shelf I put the drives into looks sort of funky with a nice computer. Now the modern Richard wants to use USB hard drives if possible.

I see some partial answers (not step by step- that this  computer phobic guy could use) that I will  use to waste a few CDRs trying to make a CD with USB support.  They are not too expensive.

I've personally written extensively on using a USB floppy drive to boot a PC, when an internal floppy is not possible.
I've also written volumes on Making a Ghost boot Flash Drive and then burning that to a CD with Nero.
That's all in the archives, so I'm not going to retype it all again.
Sorry, but my fingers hurt. Sad

As for having a ghost boot CD, that too has been cussed and discussed to the point of absurdity.

So I don't really see the need of rehashing all that old information.

I even downloaded one of those "Ultimate Boot CD's" (that I heard about on this very forum) that had Ghost 11.5 on it.  So what's the point?
Every bit of information and every program you could ever want or need is out there in "Web Land" if you'll just look for it.

Done....
