Norton Ghost version for imaging Linux (ext3)

Hi

What (recent; i.e. > NG 2003) version of Norton Ghost can image Linux (ext3) > NTFS partitions, with a decent compression ratio ? This is because most of the spare free space on my desktop PC is on NTFS partitions (d/b openSUSE 11.1 & Win XP). I have tried 'partimage' from a bootable 'live' CD - though it can image the ext3 partition (/ & /home) to NTFS, there is a problem when one restores from NTFS image (ie ext3 image stored on NTFS partition) to ext3 partition.

Would prefer if this could be done from a boot disc.

I've been saying for a long time that if Ghost can see it, Ghost can copy it.

I just verified the different types of format with my Software GURU.
He verified all of the aforementioned format types plus "Journaling" which he himself used.
He's as much of a Ghost enthusiast as I am.

The biggest problem we see here and in other forums is people trying to use a version of Ghost that is just plain TOO OLD to work with some of the newer motherboards, USB, ect.

When I got my first AM2 mobo, I was forced to upgrade my Ghost 2003 to the latest build, (793) before Ghost could see the drives on my mobo.
Since then, I've been a happy camper! Wink

Came across these pages from the Symantec website - NG 2003 does support ext2 and ext3 Linux file systems, though no mention is made of the new ext4 file system.
