NG2003 and VMware workstation 5.5
Jan 3rd, 2006 at 6:51pm

Hi there,

I backed up my notebook's hard disk with Norton Ghost 2003 on another disk and after that copied these files to DVDs. I read about the possibility of VMware Workstation 5.5 to read Ghost images and to get the machine live under vmware. But VMware say that the images should be made by Norton Ghost 9.0 and up. Does anybody know any way to convert my Norton Ghost images to version 9.0 format? If I could revitalize my machine it would be perfect. I'll appreciate any useful suggestion.

Best regards,
otnvnbg

Only way I know to get a Ghost 2003 image to be a Ghost 9.x image would be to restore the Ghost 2003 image to a HDD using Ghost 2003, and then get a copy of Ghost 9.x and create the 9.x image.

No question is stupid...but, possibly the answers are  Wink !

Otnvnbg, this document may be generally helpful concerning Ghost 2003 and VMWare:

I am intrigued by the possibility to restoring a Ghost image to a virtual machine for purposes of testing.  Please post your experiences on this thread:
