Transferring GHOST Images
May 19th, 2006 at 4:00pm

I had created the ghost of my Partition C:\ in D:\ as XPPRO.GHO. If i change the destination to E:\ or F:\by copying or cutting the created ghost file,
will the ghost work ?

Some folks are *superstitious* about doing anything to a Ghost image file after it's created--especially *defragging* a HDD that has Ghost images on it--but I've copied and moved Ghost image files many times without problems--also--many create Ghost images to a HDD and later burn those image files to a CD or DVD optical disk--and they seem to work fine.

If you have a *critical* image that *must* be okay, then I would do a *copy* to the new location, and then run an *Integrity* check on the new image file before deleting the original from its initial saved location.

Ghost will not care where the image file is located--you just have to know where to tell Ghost to look for it.
