Ghost 8.2 (Solution Suite) and NIC driver problem
Jul 31st, 2006 at 1:10pm

Hi Everyone:

Was trying to push an image to a new machine using the Ghost Console and kept getting errors concering the NIC. The machine is a Dell GX270 with the Intel Pro 1000 MT network card. I tried various drivers from intel and Dell, including DOS, but the process continues to show errors and then halts, causing me to reboot and use fdisk to remove the ghost partition, or it gets caught in an infinate loop. I made two ghost network boot floppies that worked, but I would rather be able to do this over the console instead of a boot disk working to connect. I have included the errors I have seen below, any help would be appreciated.

Error Msgs:
Slot not specified for driver instance 1.

Loading on PCI device VEN_8086*DEV_100E&SUBSYS_01511020&REV_02 in slot 0x0260

To Virtual Partition
Failed to reboot client to recovery partition

Good thread, and it could fix the problem, which I did with floppies, but I manage images for various machines across a campus - walking to each machine would be a long process. I need to be able to do this over the network. I am wondering if the driver is corrupt? Or could the Dell driver be the problem?

Any chance a different brand/model NIC card could be installed and tested--maybe some weird hardware/software incompatibility.
