i thought with ns&r we'd have no more "ghost".

symantec is going to offer *both* ghost 12 *and* ns&r 2.0?

these 2 products seem nearly identical (one also backs up folders).

I am not able to find documentation which says this.

http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/products/overview.jsp?pcid=1025&p vid=865_1

Where have you seen this referenced?

I found the reference from the *Product Manuals* found at the following links--see either the *Manual Description*, the *Readme.txt*, or the *Implementation Guide*--the second page shows the *version* of the Guide:

Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 1.0 Product Manuals

Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 1.1 Product Manuals

Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 Product Manuals

Rad, yes:  there will be both a Norton Save & Restore 2.0 and a Norton Ghost 12 product within about the next 60 days, just as there exists a Norton Save & Restore 1.0 and a Norton Ghost 10 product today.  True, the latter two products do have a lot in common, with additional file/folder backup capabilities added to NSR.

It is only speculation on my part, but I would not be surprised if the Ghost component in Norton Save & Restore 2.0 will be lacking the new advanced features that have been added to Norton Ghost 12 (e.g., physical-to-virtual image conversion).  As a consequence, I also would not be surprised to see a substantial price difference between the two products, nor would I be surprised to find the price of Norton Ghost 12 higher than that of Norton Ghost 10.

NightOwl,

Thanks for the follow-up. Reading the manuals .. I shoulda known.  Smiley

Pleo,

Does it seem Symantec is marketing S&R towards the (less tech-savvy) home user, and Ghost (with more sophisticated options) to the power user?

Anybody stumble across any Ghost 12 "sightings" on the 'Net?
