Going from Existing Notebook PC to New Notebook PC, Different Hardware?
Jul 13th, 2007 at 8:12am

I have a notebook PC that has a severe hardware problem and I want to migrate my entire data and operating system configuration(i.e registry, etc) to a totally different notebook PC. Will Ghost work for me?

Yes (and no).  If you have a valid backup image of your notebook, then you can restore the DATA folders and files onto a new/different PC.  But Ghost is not designed to migrate a hard drive to different hardware.

Besides, the end user license agreement for your laptop manufacturer is tied to that motherboard/bios and wouldn't work on the new pc and would violate the eula.
