Product key required for Ghost 2003 ?
Mar 4th, 2008 at 11:57am

Hello

I am brand new here and really appreciate your help.

I am not new to forums and I did search for this answer
before I posted the question.

I am going to buy a new, never used, Ghost 2003 cd and
the person selling it tells me there is no product key
required for this version.

Is this true?  All I need is the cd and nothing else to register it
or use live update?

Thanks . . . . Brian

I don't recall having to enter a product key when installing Norton Ghost 2003, but it was a while ago. Seems I recall issues regarding "activation" began with Norton Ghost 9.

Also unlike Ghost 2003, Ghost 9 requires product activation (within 30 days, or the program quits working), just like Windows XP.

Same problem here--it's been a long time since the actual installation of Ghost 2003--don't remember having to use a product key or activation code--just looked at the installation CD and its sleeve--no codes anywhere!

It's true that there's no key to be entered during the installation of Ghost 2003 but regarding the use of LiveUpdate, there's a caveat. Ghost 2003 is an old product and you need to use the Symantec Archive server to get the updates. Have a look in Latest version of Ghost 2003 downloadable from Symantec on Feb 1, 08 for the details.
