Ghost 2003 and SATA

Often Ghost 2003 will not recognize SATA hardisks.
The solution is to write the following DOS command
Ghost -noide
Good luck!

My first SATA HD was a few years back.....I didn't even have any SATA ports on my mobo, at the time.
EDIT: And JFYI I was using a version of Ghost 2003 prior to build 793, it was 754 I think. The old memory gets fuzzy after a time.
I had to use a PCI SATA controller card. (I still have that card! )
The drive worked just fine though and so did Ghost 2003, with NO switches.
In fact, I've never used a switch or special driver in the 11 years that I've been using Ghost. I wouldn't even know how.
If your mobo is presenting it's drives to Ghost properly, they all look just like the old standard IDE drives with which we're all familiar. NO difference.
Check the drive settings in your Bios if Ghost does not see a SATA drive. You may be just a mouse click away from total success.
Ghost 2003 and SATA?.....yeah, why not?
It works for me!!!

My experience is that ghost 2003 worked fine with SATA on my old motherboard, a Soyo KT-333 Ultra.
(I prefer to boot on a windows 95 floppy - which gives me a DOS interface, and then use a Ghost.exe file on a Fat32 partition. This is much faster than using a Ghost based floppy)
However, my two year old Epox 939 board made the upstart of ghost much slower (same haddisk, a WD Raptor with 36 gb).
And even more: My new Gigabyte mobo was horribly slow and did not find SATA at all.
But luckily, using the '-noide' switch again starts ghost in a flash.
Ghost 2003 is still my favourite cloner!
(- and Handy Backup from Novosibirsk is by far the best backup program)

NOTE:
For use on AMD 939 and AM2 motherboards, a Ghost 2003 version of
793
is required.
Or a Ghost version later than 2003.
Booting Ghost from a Windows ME boot disk, I've found, is much more functional than any other version of DOS that I've ever tried.
Booting from a DOS boot disk and then jumping to a FAT-32 hard drive to run the Ghost.exe program is quick and efficient, (I've done that myself) but if the HD crashes or gets corrupted, you're out of luck, unless you also have a copy of Ghost.exe on your boot disk.
Ghost 2003, build 793 is the last version of Ghost that I'm familiar with, that will fit on a 1.44m floppy disk, along with the DOS boot files.
Cheers Mates!
